WARNING: From Notice to Mariners No 9 of 2008.

There are areas of 1.6 metre water depths at LAT. (Lowest Astronomical Tide) particularly in the vicinity of the ferry berth. This poses a potential danger to larger power vessels and deep-keeled yachts.

The approaches to the marina are clear in all directions. There is recent shoaling within the breakwater, see above. The marina is used by many recreational fisherman so there is quite a bit of traffic at the entrance in summer.

Very strong bullets of wind can whistle down the gully into the marina, especially at night in summer.

Comments:

The marina at Wirrina, known as the Marina St Vincent, provides a useful stopover half way between Adelaide and Kangaroo Island. It is also the only place where all weather protection can be obtained between these two points. It provides access to the beaches at Normanville and is a good base for exploring the Fleurieu Peninsula.

The marina facilities are yet to be properly completed. However fuel, water, toilets and showers are available. It is a fairly long and steep walk up to the resort where there are a pub, restaurants and a golf club; you may be able to obtain a lift by phoning the resort.

Nearest shopping is at Second Valley, 5 minutes by car with a general store. A large variety of shopping facilities are available at Normanville, ten minutes by car.

Contact the Marina office on: Channel 16 VHF or telephone (08) 8598 3115 or the Marina Manager on 0448 963 715
Marina charges vary depending on the length of the vessel. As at December 2008 the charges for a 12M (39ft) vessel were:

Short Term (< 5 weeks) $21 per daily, $95 weekly.

Long Term (> 5 weeks) $7.30 daily, $51.00 weekly.

Fuel may not be available over the summer period 2008/9. Check with the marina manager at the above phone numbers.
